Emergency Care is Improved in Pakistan through Support from Weill Cornell Medicine

In Summer 2026, Weill Cornell Medicine's Impact magazine highlighted the work of Dr. Junaid Razzak, Professor of Emergency Medicine at WCM, to strengthen emergency care in Pakistan through his collaboration with Aga Khan University. In Pakistan, patients often arrive at hospitals too late or without adequate initial care, identifying the need to improve emergency response and provide lifesaving treatment before patients reach the hospital. The article features initiatives led by Dr. Razzak to address this gap in emergency care, including the Pakistan Life Savers Program which has trained more than 500,000 people in lifesaving skills, and a pediatric telemedicine program connecting ambulance teams with emergency physicians. The collaboration also supports research aimed at improving emergency care and patient outcomes. Read the full article in Impact magazine
