Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was established by Cornell University in partnership with Qatar Foundation of Education, Science and Community Development in January 2001.
As the first medical school in Qatar and the first American institution to offer a Doctor of Medicine degree overseas, WCM-Qatar shares WCM’s tripartite mission for excellence in education, patient care and research.
The school offers 6-year and 4-year MD programs along with a 2-year pre-med program, matriculating over 300 students from more than 30 countries annually. Teaching is provided by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty and includes local physicians who hold WCM appointments.
WCM-Qatar is also affiliated clinically with Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine in Qatar.
